With one of the UK’s biggest concentrations of digital and creative industries employing thousands of people across the region, it’s no wonder Silicon South has a collaborative, social community. There are numerous established networks as well as hundreds of events to facilitate, inspire and develop.

(We’ve also got plenty of ‘alternative’ networking tools like pubs, kite-surfing, SUP, cycling and sailing.)


Meetdraw is an industry-led network of creative & digital agencies.

Completely un-funded and run on the enthusiasm of those involved, Meetdraw organises large-scale networking events attracting an average of 250+ attendees.



HackBMTH brings together some of the region’s best creative and tech talent, across industries such as web design, games design, and engineering to share in the joy of hacking.

Monthly events allow experienced developers and first-timers to collaborate and explore.


National Hack the Government

In partnership with Rewired State, Bournemouth is one of the first official non-London based hosts for National Hack the Government – this high-profile 48hr hackathon uses open data supplied by a growing number of UK Govt. Departments (including Bournemouth Borough Council!).

Silicon Beach

Silicon Beach 2014 brings together the UK’s leading strategic thinkers, digital innovators and people who look at brands to showcase their challenges and the challenges of the 21st century from a slightly different perspective. Always a sell-out, this unique events attracts fascinating speakers and a great crowd. 

BFX Festival

The BFX Festival, sponsored by Silicon South,  returns from 24-28 September 2014 for its second year, showcasing the very best in visual effects, animation and computer games at the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC). The four day festival consists of a unique programme of public screenings, presentations, workshops, a career hub showing you how to get involved with the industry, and family friendly events. Attended by all the leading visual effects companies, if you're into animation this is the event for you.



ThinkCreateDo is an online hub designed to celebrate and support the creative and digital economy in the region. Featuring a sector directory, events calendar, jobs board and news feed, it’s a great place to find out what’s going on in the region and to find new employees (or that perfect job).
