Make it Workshop: introduction to digital fabrication prototyping

March 22 @ 9:30 am - 3:00 pm

Free

Make it Workshops provide insight into the research and prototyping process through understanding the capabilities of the latest fabrication tools and what you need to work with them. All MAKE IT events demonstrate the equipment of the AUB workshop and digital fabrication lab and are tutored by professional designers.

On completion of this programme, you can apply for an Access Voucher to use our workshop facilities for your own prototyping project. These facilities include: 5 axis CNC, 3 axis CNC, 8×4′ router, laser cutters and SLS 3D printer.

MAKE IT workshop outline

This workshop will explore the capabilities of digital fabrication for prototyping, including CNC milling, CNC routing and 3D SLS printing. You will learn about various industry standard design software, enabling you to better plan your prototyping and manufacturing process.

The level of tuition is aimed at those with an interest in building their capabilities for prototyping. You may have some digital design experience (such as SketchUp), come from a non-digital design background or have a project you intend to prototype using our facilities but don’t know where to start. Each attendee will receive a MAKE IT handbook containing key information covered in the workshop as well as useful pointers for ongoing learning.
