Startup Grind Bournemouth – Dominic Monkhouse: Scaling A Technology Business
March 20 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm£15
In March, we’re looking forward to welcoming Dominic Monkhouse of Foundry Media to Startup Grind Bournemouth, where he’ll be talking to us about successfully scaling a technology business. Dominic will be sharing his wealth of knowledge with us including his experience of scaling up two UK technology businesses to over £25 million in a period of just 5 years. At Rackspace, Dominic took annual revenue from £0.5 million to £25 million in less than 5 years and at Peer 1, he built the UK business from zero to £30 million and the global business from $90 million to $200 million in a similar time frame.
Customer service and company culture have been at the heart of Dominic’s success and over the years he has identified a number of key areas that should be priorities for any business planning on scaling up, so Andrew will be asking about and exploring these in detail.
In this interactive fireside chat, Dominic will be covering:
Unique challenges to scaling up a technology business
The importance of company culture and environment
How to maintain agility as you scale
Dominic has an impressive track record of building great technology service businesses and has scaled two UK companies very successfully. At Rackspace, Dominic increased staff from 4 to 150, and annual revenue from less than £1 million to £25 million and at Peer 1, he built the UK business to £30 million in just 5 years and took the global business from $90 million to $200 million in the same period. Rackspace is where Dominic’s hands-on experience of running a business using the Rockefeller Habits began and the company was recognised as an outstanding workplace in Europe, winning several awards for its results-obsessed customer service. Peer 1 also won various awards for creating a great place for people to work.
Dominic now works as a business coach helping others scale up their operations and also hosts the Melting Pot podcast where he interviews entrepreneurs who share the secrets of their success with respect to scaling.
