Film Expo South returns next week to support local film makers and producers
With less than 2 weeks to go you’ve still got time to join Film EXPO SOUTH as we move into our 3rd year discussing Film Finance.
Film Expo South is back with an exciting seminar programme supporting film makers and producers in our region.
The film industry is booming in British production of film and TV. From Star Wars to Dunkirk, and of course Broadchurch, the TV series which has been a huge success on our screens, being filmed locally in Bridport and West Bay in West Dorset.
UK Film, TV and music sectors are the second largest GDP contributors to our economy, with growth of 72.4% since 2014 (ONS). Employment in the creative industries (Culture Dept) is growing at four times the rate of the wider UK workforce, growing 5% year on year to almost 2 million people. The UK government supports the British film and TV industry with tax incentives through EIS and SEIS schemes.
Film Expo South wants to ensure film and creative industry investors get the best support from the industry by busting long-held myths and explain how investors can take advantage of legal tax incentives whilst managing risks. No investment is without risk, but our panel will describe the tools and insurances within the industry that can help de-risk investment. We are also supporting entrepreneurial filmmakers by enabling them to meet experts who can help them become ‘funding and production ready’.
Our two seminars on Monday 25 June 2018 are
- “BENEFITS, RISKS and TAX BREAKS – ‘How to safely invest in film in the most secure and tax efficient way”, for investors and IFAs. Tickets NOW available: BOOK HERE
- “FILM FINANCING OBSTACLES – ‘How to make your project stand out to investors’” for third year film students/graduates, budding and working producers.
